San Francisco, July 26: Ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Google has introduced new features aimed at enhancing the user experience when searching for women’s sports information.

In a recent blog post, Google announced the expansion of coverage for women’s competitions in their information boxes, encompassing over 380 leagues. Over the past year, they have added more than 110 leagues across women’s soccer, cricket, and rugby, enabling users to easily access the latest scores and results of their favorite teams.

Through collaborations with broadcasters and rights holders, Google has facilitated convenient access to live streams and highlights directly from the Search results page. This includes prominent women’s sports events such as the WNBA and UEFA Women’s Champions League, as well as leagues like the Women’s Premier League in India and Liga MX Femenil in Mexico.

Google’s system has been tailored to understand users’ increased searches related to tournaments and women’s sports, allowing them to present relevant information and characteristics of women’s leagues and current events.

Furthermore, the tech giant has made improvements in gendered languages such as Spanish, German, and Hindi. Queries in these languages, referring to women in sports, now yield more gender-correct results, enhancing inclusivity and accuracy.

Google expressed confidence that these enhancements, coupled with other new Search features, will ensure that users can access essential information at their fingertips. Fans worldwide will be able to stay up-to-date on games, check scores, follow teams, receive real-time notifications, explore in-depth stats, and even engage in friendly competition through the Mini Cup Game on Search.
