Hyderabad, July 30: The Indian government has announced the dispatch of an inter-ministerial central team to Telangana for evaluating the damages caused by floods. The decision was taken after senior BJP leaders from the state met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

G. Kishan Reddy, Union Tourism Minister and state BJP president, revealed that Amit Shah instructed the Home Secretary to promptly send a high-powered inter-ministerial team to Telangana. The team will conduct an on-the-spot first-hand assessment of the damage and relief efforts carried out by the state administration.

Led by Kunal Satyarthi, an advisor to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the team will include officials from various departments like agriculture, finance, water resources, power, road transport & highways, and the National Remote Sensing Centre.

The inter-ministerial team will be in Telangana from July 31 to assess the damage caused by the floods during the South-West monsoon of 2023. Additionally, the team will evaluate whether the disaster can be classified as “severe” and will recommend the admissibility of additional central assistance based on the state government’s final memorandum.

This move comes as a crucial step to gauge the extent of the devastation caused by the floods and to provide necessary support and relief to the affected areas in Telangana.
