Hyderabad, August 29, 2023: A bomb threat email directed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGI) in Hyderabad has been confirmed as a hoax, according to local police.

The unsettling email reached the airport’s customer care department on Monday at approximately 11:50 a.m., claiming that a bomb had been planted within the airport premises, set to detonate at 7 p.m.

This ominous message immediately triggered a security response at the airport, prompting the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local law enforcement, a bomb squad, and a canine unit to initiate anti-sabotage checks. After a thorough examination, officials reported that no explosives were discovered.

An official from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police station disclosed that their team rapidly mobilized to the airport upon receiving information about the threatening email. Despite a comprehensive search, no suspicious items or devices were located.

Based on a formal complaint filed by the airport authorities, RGIA police have registered a case under Section 385 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and initiated an investigation. Authorities are actively working to identify and apprehend the sender of the threatening email.
