Fresh Earthquake Claims One Life and Injures 90 in Afghanistan
Herat, Afghanistan, October 15: A recent earthquake in Afghanistan’s Herat province has tragically claimed one life and left 90 individuals injured, according to Dr. Farhad Afzali of Herat hospital. The casualty count may rise further, cautioned a hospital official.
Reports from locals indicate that the seismic activity has caused substantial damage to approximately 30 villages in the province.
This earthquake, marked by two separate tremors, each measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, and followed by numerous aftershocks, originated in the Zinda Jan district of Herat province on October 7. The earlier event resulted in over 2,000 fatalities and left thousands more with injuries.
Since October 7, Herat has been plagued by a series of tremors, prompting residents to seek shelter on open grounds in fear of potential, devastating aftershocks.
