Congress Releases First List of Candidates for Telangana Elections
Hyderabad, October 15: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming November 30 elections in the state. The list features prominent leaders such as TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, among others.
In this initial list of 55 candidates, 17 belong to the Reddy community, while 12 represent Backward Classes (BCs), and another 12 hail from Scheduled Castes (SCs). Two candidates are from Scheduled Tribes (STs), seven from the Velama community, two from the Brahmin community, and three are Muslims. The list also includes five women candidates.
Notably, the party has fielded Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao and his son Rohith Rao, who recently switched from the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to join the Congress. Hanumantha Rao will contest from Malkajgiri, a seat he won in 2018 on the BRS ticket. Rohith Rao will represent Medak. Another defector from the BRS, former minister Jupally Krishna Rao, will contest from Kollapur.
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Pawan Khera’s wife and TPCC general secretary Kota Neelima has been nominated as the candidate for the Sanathnagar constituency.
State Congress chief Revanth Reddy is set to contest from Kodangal, where he faced defeat in the 2018 elections. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019 from Malkajgiri.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, the former TPCC chief, will contest from Huzurnagar, while his wife N. Padmavathi Reddy is fielded from Kodad. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy will be the Congress candidate from Nalgonda. Other significant candidates include former deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha (Andole), former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav (Musheerabad), AICC secretary A. Sampath Kumar (Alampur), former minister and MLC T. Jeevan Reddy (Jagtial).
The Congress has retained sitting MLAs Bhatti Vikramarka (Madhira), D. Sridharbabu (Manthani), Danasari Anasuya Seethakka (Mulug), and T. Jagga Reddy (Sangareddy).
