In a recent announcement, Meta-owned WhatsApp is introducing a feature that allows users to simultaneously use two WhatsApp accounts on a single device. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared this development in a post, revealing that WhatsApp users will soon be able to have two accounts logged in simultaneously.

This convenient feature is set to roll out to Android users in the coming weeks and months. It eliminates the need to constantly log in and out, carry multiple phones, or worry about sending messages from the wrong account.

Setting up a second account requires either a second phone number and SIM card or a phone that supports multi-SIM or eSIM functionality. To enable this feature, users can access their WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to their name, and select “Add account.”

Users will have the ability to manage privacy and notification settings separately for each account, providing added flexibility and convenience.

WhatsApp also issued a security reminder, advising users to exclusively utilize the official WhatsApp application and to avoid downloading imitation or counterfeit versions to add multiple accounts. The platform emphasized that messages are truly secure and private only when using the official WhatsApp.

Earlier this week, WhatsApp had announced plans to introduce a password-less passkey feature for all Android users. This update will offer a more secure and hassle-free alternative to traditional two-factor SMS authentication, ensuring that only biometric authentication methods like face recognition, fingerprint, or PIN unlock WhatsApp accounts. Android users can anticipate the gradual rollout of passkey support in the weeks and months ahead.
