Union Home Minister Amit Shah Pledges BC Chief Minister for Telangana If BJP Comes to Power

SURYAPET

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a significant announcement, stating that if the BJP comes to power in Telangana, a candidate from the BC (Backward Classes) community will be appointed as the Chief Minister. Speaking at the Jana Garjana Sabha held at the district headquarters in Suryapet, Amit Shah criticized both the BRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) and Congress parties, labeling them as family-centric entities incapable of serving the people’s interests.

Amit Shah pointed out that the current Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, aspired for his son Rama Rao to succeed him, while Congress leader Sonia Gandhi aimed for her son Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister. He asserted that their agendas were focused on “Pariwar Kalyan” (family welfare) and claimed that leaders committed to their families would not act in the people’s best interests. In contrast, he stated that the BJP was dedicated to “Garib Kalyan” (welfare of the poor).

The Union Minister questioned the promises made by Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao since 2014, including the commitment to appoint a Dalit (a member of a marginalized caste) as Chief Minister, allocate three acres of land to Dalits, and provide a budget allocation of Rs. 50,000 crore for Dalits. Amit Shah also inquired why the government failed to allocate Rs. 10,000 for Backward Classes (BCs).

Amit Shah highlighted the actions taken by the BJP government at the Centre, including the appointment of the BC Commission, the establishment of the Sammakka-Sarakka tribal university for Telangana, the creation of a turmeric board, and the appointment of the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal to resolve disputes between states. He emphasized financial aid to farmers, potable water supply through the Jal Jeevan Mission, the construction of toilets for the poor, and the distribution of free rice to 1.9 crore families.

Amit Shah also invited the public to attend the Prana Pratishta for the Rama Mandir in Ayodhya, which is scheduled to be held in January 2024 and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, who is also the BJP state president, pledged that the party would provide free education and healthcare to the poor when in power. He promised free education and treatment for all impoverished individuals and the provision of crop insurance for farmers.

Kishan Reddy praised the spirit of Suryapet in its historical fight against the Nizams and emphasized the significance of Liberation Day, recently celebrated in Hyderabad after a gap of 75 years.

He urged the public to support the BJP and emphasized the need to defeat both the BRS and Congress, highlighting that votes for Congress could indirectly benefit the BRS, as some Congress MLAs were contesting on the BRS ticket.
