New Delhi, Nov 3: The residents of Delhi awoke to a hazy morning as the air quality in Delhi-NCR continued its descent into the ‘severe’ category on Friday.
In the national capital, the Air Quality Index (AQI) at Anand Vihar breached the ‘severe’ threshold, with PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels hitting 500. Meanwhile, NO2 was at a ‘satisfactory’ level, and CO registered in the ‘moderate category,’ as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Bawana witnessed a similar scenario, with PM 2.5 and PM 10 reaching 500 and CO levels at 113, categorized as ‘moderate,’ while NO2 was at ‘satisfactory’ levels.
At Delhi Technical University (DTU), PM 10 recorded a ‘severe’ reading at 500, while PM 2.5 was in the ‘very poor’ category at 376. CO levels were at 110, and NO2 was at 103, both in the ‘moderate’ category.
The air quality at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport was also in the ‘severe’ category, with PM 2.5 at 500 and PM 10 at 484. CO levels were in the ‘moderate’ category, and NO2 was rated as ‘satisfactory.’
ITO displayed a ‘severe’ AQI, with PM 2.5 at 468 and PM 10 at 409. NO2 was at 148, and CO was recorded at 110 on Friday morning, both within the ‘moderate’ category.
The air quality situation in neighboring cities Noida and Gurugram was no better. Noida’s AQI stood at 388, with PM 10 concentration at 377, categorized as ‘very poor.’ Gurugram reported an AQI of 350, also ‘very poor,’ and PM 10 concentration at 233, rated as ‘poor.’
The AQI classification ranges from ‘good’ (0-50) to ‘severe’ (401-500), with intermediate categories including ‘satisfactory,’ ‘moderate,’ ‘poor,’ and ‘very poor.’
