Akshay Kumar Shares First Look for ‘Singham Again’ in Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe Mumbai, Nov 5: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who recently tasted box office success with ‘OMG 2’, unveiled his character in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe as ATS Chief Veer Sooryavanshi.
In the image shared on Instagram, Akshay is featured in the midst of an intense action scene, leaping from a helicopter with guns in both hands. The announcement of his role in Shetty’s upcoming film ‘Singham Again’ was made with the picture. The still was revealed on the second anniversary of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi,’ which marked the resurgence of theater business after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
Rohit Shetty, the superstar director behind the cop universe, also shared the image on Instagram, mentioning, “In Singham Again, we are just doing what our fans want us to do! So here it is…Akshay Kumar and a helicopter! As we complete 2 years of Sooryavanshi, VEER SOORYAVANSHI joins the battle with Singham.”
Rohit Shetty has successfully built a cop universe in Bollywood with three major films – ‘Singham,’ ‘Simmba,’ and ‘Sooryavanshi,’ featuring Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar, respectively. The storylines and narratives of these films are now interconnected, extending the cop universe.
The shooting of ‘Singham Again’ commenced in September this year, with Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan also starring alongside Akshay Kumar. Deepika is a new addition. She unveiled her character, Shakti Shetty, a cop, with one image referencing the goddess Durga and another showing her in a lighter moment with a gun. Deepika was announced as part of the star cast of ‘Singham Again’ during a press event for her husband Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Cirkus’ in Mumbai last year.
