Lucknow, November 6: The Uttar Pradesh government is set to conduct a comprehensive census of cows in three key categories, including those living with cattle rearers, at Kanha Upvan, and those abandoned on the streets.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued an order to prioritize the counting in these three categories, followed by the implementation of geo-tagging.
The initial phase of the process will involve counting these cows, while the subsequent phase will focus on devising and executing an action plan to ensure their proper accommodation and well-being.
The government’s commitment to cattle conservation extends to both Kanha Upvan and the protection of cows roaming the streets, ensuring the convenience of the public and farmers.
The Yogi Adityanath government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard destitute cattle have shown promising results. Currently, 11.89 lakh cows are protected in 6,889 destitute cattle breeding sites.
The ‘Mukhyamantri Sahbhagita Yojana’ (Chief Minister’s Participation Scheme) for cow protection has also achieved favorable outcomes, with over 1.85 lakh cows being handed over to gau-sevaks (cow caretakers) under this initiative.
Furthermore, the amount provided for cow maintenance at destitute cattle breeding sites and for families caring for cows has recently been increased from Rs 30 to Rs 50 per cow.
