Telangana State Budget 2024-25: Focus on Rural Development, Welfare, and Key Sectors

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has unveiled the State Budget for 2024-25, with a total outlay of ₹3,04,965 crore, prioritizing rural development, social welfare, and infrastructure. The budget includes ₹2,26,982 crore for revenue expenditure and ₹36,504 crore for capital expenditure.

Major Allocations Across Key Sectors

The budget emphasizes farmer security, infrastructure, power supply, and social welfare. Some of the significant allocations include:

  • Farmer’s Bharosa: ₹18,000 crore
  • Agriculture Department: ₹24,439 crore
  • Animal Welfare Department: ₹1,674 crore
  • Civil Supplies: ₹5,734 crore
  • Education Department: ₹23,108 crore
  • Labor and Employment Generation: ₹900 crore
  • Panchayati Raj and Rural Development: ₹31,605 crore
  • Women and Child Welfare: ₹2,862 crore

Social Welfare Prioritization

The government has allocated substantial funds for welfare initiatives aimed at SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities:

  • SC Welfare: ₹40,232 crore
  • ST Welfare: ₹17,169 crore

Budget Boost for Panchayati Raj and Women & Child Welfare

Among the biggest winners in this budget are the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, which has been allocated ₹31,606 crore, an increase from ₹29,816 crore last year. Similarly, the Women and Child Welfare Department has received ₹2,862 crore, compared to ₹2,736 crore in the previous financial year.

₹58,084 Crore Allocated for Nine Major Schemes

The Telangana government has earmarked ₹58,084 crore for nine flagship schemes, focusing on welfare and development programs. Key allocations include:

  • Interest-Free Loans: ₹1,511 crore
  • Future City Authority: ₹100 crore
  • Sanna Vadla Bonus: ₹1,800 crore
  • Current Subsidy: ₹11,500 crore

With this budget, the Telangana government aims to strengthen rural development, provide security for farmers, and boost infrastructure, welfare, and employment generation across the state.

₹75,259 Crore Allocated for Welfare in Telangana Budget 2025-26

The Telangana Budget 2025-26 places a strong emphasis on welfare, with significant allocations across various sections of society. Women’s welfare has been allocated ₹2,862 crore, while Scheduled Caste (SC) welfare receives the highest share at ₹40,232 crore. Scheduled Tribe (ST) welfare has been granted ₹17,169 crore, Backward Class (BC) welfare ₹11,405 crore, and Minority welfare ₹3,591 crore. In total, ₹75,259 crore has been earmarked for welfare across all departments, underscoring the government’s commitment to social justice and inclusive development.

The Civil Supplies Department has been granted ₹5,734 crore, while the Industries Department will receive ₹3,527 crore. The Panchayati Raj Department has been allotted ₹31,605 crore, emphasizing rural development. Welfare schemes receive substantial funding, including ₹11,405 crore for BC Welfare, ₹40,232 crore for SC Welfare, ₹17,169 crore for ST Welfare, and ₹3,591 crore for Minority Welfare. The IT Department has been allocated ₹7,704 crore, signaling continued investment in the technology sector. Key social welfare initiatives include ₹433 crore for the Free Gas Cylinder Scheme, ₹4,305 crore for the Mahalakshmi Scheme, ₹2,080 crore for the Griha Jyoti Scheme, ₹1,800 crore for the Sanna Rice Bonus, ₹1,143 crore for Rajiv Arogya Sri, ₹723 crore for the Gas Cylinder Subsidy, and ₹600 crore for Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa. Education has been prioritized with ₹23,108 crore, while the medical and health sector will receive ₹12,393 crore. Additionally, ₹56,084 crore has been set aside for the implementation of six key government guarantees.
