Seoul, Nov 14: Samsung Electronics showcased its latest software and services updates, featuring the new generative artificial intelligence (AI) model, Samsung Gauss, at the annual Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) Korea 2023. The South Korean tech giant presented Samsung Gauss and its sub-models—Gauss Language, Gauss Code, and Gauss Image—with plans to integrate them into products to enhance the consumer experience.

Samsung Gauss, introduced at the company’s AI event last week, is designed to boost work efficiency by simplifying tasks like composing emails, summarizing documents, and translating content. The AI model is slated to be integrated into upcoming Samsung smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy S24.

Lee Joo-hyung from Samsung Research’s Global AI Center emphasized Samsung Gauss’s capabilities in maximizing user-device interaction, providing a more intuitive and natural user experience. The technology aims to enhance convenience and personalization for users, fostering more creative use of Samsung devices.

The conference also addressed advanced research technologies, customer experience improvements, data intelligence based on knowledge graphs, mobile Galaxy UI features, the evolution of the Tizen platform, and enhanced connectivity experiences for Tizen-based screen products. Discussions on the threats and opportunities of AI on software security, as well as Samsung’s open-source activities for technological innovation, were part of the two-day event.

SDC, an annual event since 2014, brings together thousands of developers, content creators, and designers to explore future technologies and services. Samsung traditionally unveils upcoming technologies and software visions at the conference.
