In a recent report, it has been revealed that only 26 per cent of organizations in India are fully prepared to deploy and harness the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered technologies.
The ‘AI Readiness Index’ by Cisco unveiled that Indian companies are under time pressure, with 75 per cent of surveyed entities acknowledging they have a maximum of one year to implement their AI strategy, or face potential negative impacts on their business.
The study indicates that while AI adoption has been gradually advancing over the years, recent developments in Generative AI, combined with its increased public availability in the past year, are drawing heightened attention to the challenges, changes, and new possibilities presented by this transformative technology.
Liz Centoni, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Applications, as well as Chief Strategy Officer at Cisco, emphasized the importance of companies evaluating their infrastructure to support the demands of AI workloads as they race to deploy AI solutions. She added that organizations must also observe how AI is being used in context to ensure Return on Investment (ROI), security, and, notably, responsibility.
On a positive note, the report highlighted that 95 per cent of organizations in India already have a robust AI strategy in place or are in the process of developing one. Additionally, over 80 per cent of organizations are classified as either pacesetters or chasers (fully/partially prepared), with only 1 per cent falling into the category of laggards (not prepared).
Globally, the report revealed that 93 per cent of respondents believe AI will significantly impact their business operations, raising concerns around data privacy and security. Notably, companies face the most challenges in leveraging AI alongside their data, with 73 per cent of respondents attributing this difficulty to data existing in silos across their organizations.
