New Delhi, Nov 28: As campaigning wrapped up in Telangana ahead of the crucial Assembly elections on Thursday, Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), released a video message urging the people of the state to vote for change and support the Congress.
Highlighting the Congress’s fulfillment of the promise to form Telangana in 2014, Sonia Gandhi expressed gratitude for the immense respect she has received, with the people affectionately calling her “Sonia Amma.”
In her nearly two-minute message, she conveyed, “By calling me Sonia Amma, you have given me immense respect. Considered me like a mother… I will always be grateful to you for this love and respect and will remain dedicated to you forever. I request my sisters, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers of Telangana… this time, use all your power to bring change, vote for the Congress.”
Sonia Gandhi expressed her sincere wish for the realization of the dreams of Telangana’s martyred sons and called for transforming Telangana from a region of landlords (‘Dorala’) into a people-centric state (‘Prajala’). She emphasized the need for a true and honest government to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
The message was shared by her son, Rahul Gandhi, who referred to her as Telangana’s own ‘Sonia Amma.’
The Congress is vying to regain power in Telangana and has unveiled several guarantees as part of its election campaign promises. The culmination of campaigning marked the last day for the 119-member Assembly elections in the southern state.
