Colonel of the Madras Regiment, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, YSM, VSM, Assumes Command of Army Training Command

In a momentous ceremony held today in Shimla, Colonel of the Madras Regiment, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, officially assumed the esteemed position of the 24th General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Army Training Command.

Lt. Gen. Manjinder Singh’s distinguished journey in the military began with his commission into 19 MADRAS on December 20, 1986. An alumnus of Sainik School Kapurthala, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, his career has been marked by leadership roles in challenging environments.

Having commanded his Battalion in the intense Counter Insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir, led an Infantry Brigade at the Line of Control, and directed an Infantry Division as part of a Strike Corps, Lt. Gen. Singh brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He also oversaw a Corps deployed along the Line of Control in Counter Insurgency Operations in J&K.

Lt. Gen. Manjinder Singh’s outstanding leadership and unwavering devotion to duty were recognized with the prestigious Yudh Seva Medal in 2015 and the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2019.

As the COLONEL of THE MADRAS REGIMENT since January 01, 2021, Lt. Gen. Singh actively contributed to the development of the Madras Regiment. His regular visits to the Madras Regimental Centre at Wellington, District Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, underscored his commitment to maintaining high training standards and addressing administrative requirements.

Upon assuming command of the Army Training Command, Lt. Gen. Manjinder Singh conveyed his heartfelt best wishes to all ranks and families of the Madras Regiment, emphasizing his unwavering dedication to excellence in training and service to the nation. The appointment marks a significant chapter in the ongoing legacy of the Madras Regiment, with Lt. Gen. Singh poised to lead the Army Training Command with distinction and valor.
