In a significant crackdown during the TSLA Elections-2023, the Telangana Police, operating under the guidance of the Election Commission of India and CEO, State Election Commission, Telangana, seized a staggering Rs. 469.63 Crores worth of Cash, Gold/Silver, Liquor, Drugs, and Freebies. This operation, conducted from October 9th, 2023, to December 1st, 2023, resulted in 11,859 FIRs.

Comparatively, the seizures during the TSLA 2018 Elections were dwarfed by the recent operation. In 2018, the police had made seizures worth Rs. 103 Crores, involving cash and other items, leading to 2000+ FIRs.

The detailed breakdown of seizures in 2018 and 2023 reveals an astonishing surge:

  • Cash Seizures: Increased by a staggering 248%, from Rs. 97.33 Crores in 2018 to Rs. 241.52 Crores in 2023.
  • Liquor Seizures: Skyrocketed by 559%, from Rs. 2.39 Crores in 2018 to Rs. 13.36 Crores in 2023.
  • Precious Metal (Gold/Silver) Seizures: Marked an extraordinary rise of 5472%, from Rs. 3.22 Crores in 2018 to Rs. 175.95 Crores in 2023.
  • Drug Seizures: Saw a remarkable surge of 5252%, from Rs. 0.42 Crores in 2018 to Rs. 22.17 Crores in 2023.
  • Freebies Seizures: Witnessed an exceptional increase, totaling Rs. 314.40 Crores in 2023.

This intensified crackdown indicates a proactive approach by the Telangana Police and election authorities to maintain the integrity of the electoral process, showcasing a substantial increase in both the value and variety of seized items compared to the previous elections.
