In response to the Telangana Meteorological Department’s alert regarding potential heavy rains from severe cyclone Mig-Jam in the Bay of Bengal, State Disaster Management Secretary Rahul Bojja conducted a teleconference with Collectors from various districts, including Bhadrardi Kothagudem, Khammam, Mulugu, Hanmakonda, Warangal, Janagam, Mahbub Bad, Suryapet, and others. Collectors were directed to remain vigilant, especially considering the expected heavy rains today and tomorrow.
Precautionary measures aligning with protocols for heavy rains and floods were emphasized. NDRF teams were dispatched to Bhadrardi Kothagudem and Mulugu districts. Special attention was urged to prevent further flooding of already filled ponds.
Multiple departments, including Irrigation, Roads Management, Roads and Buildings, Panchayat Raj, and Revenue, were instructed to stay alert. Caution was advised at causeways and low-lying areas, given the heightened risk of flooding. Furthermore, advanced identification of rehabilitation centers was stressed, ensuring the swift relocation of people to safer places if required.
