Hyderabad, December 8: A day after assuming office, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy initiated the ‘Praja Darbar’ on Friday, providing a platform for citizens to voice their grievances. Held at the Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Begumpet, the chief minister personally received applications from hundreds of people who had gathered since early morning.
Accompanied by Minister P. Srinivasa Reddy, Revanth Reddy attentively listened to the concerns raised by the public and, after receiving their petitions, promptly directed officials to address the issues. The ‘Praja Darbar’ witnessed a diverse group of attendees, including women, patients, and physically challenged individuals.
Citizens expressed their satisfaction with the initiative, emphasizing that it marked a return to a government that actively engages with public grievances. One citizen, Nagesh, likened the experience to the era of late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, stating, “It’s like YSR sir has been born again.”
Another petitioner, Narayan Reddy, who had lost both hands and a leg due to an electricity shock over a decade ago, appealed to the chief minister for assistance in obtaining artificial limbs.
Revanth Reddy, staying at his residence in Jubilee Hills, reached Praja Bhavan at 10 a.m., underscoring his commitment to directly address the concerns of the public. The revival of ‘Praja Darbar’ was a promise made by the Congress party in its election manifesto. After taking office, Revanth Reddy also announced the renaming of Pragati Bhavan to Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan.
In a proactive move, the new government dismantled the iron fencing in front of the building to enhance accessibility and remove obstacles to vehicle movement on the busy road.
