No Fixed Deadline for Gas KYC, Says District Additional Collector

District Additional Collector A. Venkat Reddy emphasized that there is no definitive deadline for gas KYC (Know Your Customer) registration, dispelling any misconceptions. Speaking at a meeting with oil company agency managers at the District Collectorate on Wednesday, Reddy warned against spreading myths related to KYC and causing inconvenience to consumers.

Actions will be taken against those creating misconceptions in the name of KYC, he asserted. Reddy urged agencies to inform consumers that KYC registration is a routine process required every two years. During the registration process, safety pipes should not be forcefully attached, and those in need can purchase the pipes. He emphasized the need to widely publicize that the government has not issued any orders regarding the supply of 500 cylinders, and this scheme is unrelated to KYC registration.

Additionally, a government directive dated October 2023 requests oil marketing companies (OMCs), including IOCL, to undertake biometric Aadhaar authentication for PMUY (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana) and PAHAL beneficiaries. OMCs are urged to complete the authentication process promptly, with IOCL providing weekly progress updates to the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, Kushagra Mittal, conveyed the official request in the letter dated October 2023.
