Interstate Drug Syndicate Busted: Three Arrested for Ganja Transportation

In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operations Team (SOT), LB Nagar Zone, joined forces with Abdullapurmet Police to apprehend three individuals involved in an interstate ganja transportation racket. The operation led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of ganja, a vehicle, and other incriminating evidence.
Details of the Arrested Individuals:
- Vikas Tyagi, 29 years, Plumber, hailing from Baranawa (Vlg), Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.
- Abrar, 30 years, Driver, residing in Lisari Gate, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
- Md. Amiruddin, 32 years, Tiles Worker, living in Lisari Gate, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Seized Material:
- Ganja: 360 KGs (Packaged in 72 packets, each weighing 5 KGs)
- Mahindra XUV 500 Car: DL10CH3988
- Cell Phones: 4
The estimated value of the confiscated items is approximately Rs. 1 crore.
Brief Account of the Operation:
The accused, Vikas Tyagi, Abrar, and Md. Amiruddin, formed a nexus for the illegal transportation of ganja. They were lured into the racket by a ganja peddler in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, who promised them a substantial share for transporting ganja from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, to Uttar Pradesh. The accused agreed to the arrangement and followed the instructions of the ganja receiver.
The modus operandi involved traveling to Rajahmundry in a vehicle provided by the receiver, collecting ganja, and delivering it to the receiver in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The accused had successfully executed similar transports on multiple occasions.
Acting on credible information, the SOT, LB Nagar Zone team, and Abdullapurmet Police intercepted the Mahindra XUV 500 car near Sampoorna Hotel, ORR, Abdullapurmet, during the night of December 13, 2023. The operation resulted in the seizure of the ganja, the vehicle, and cell phones. The accused have been taken into custody and will face judicial proceedings.
The arrests were made under the direct supervision of Shri G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and the guidance of K. Muralidhar, DCP, SOT, LB Nagar-LB Nagar, by the SOT LB Nagar Zone Team, Abdullapurmet & SOT LB Nagar police personnel.
