The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) is set to bolster its fight against drug abuse by acquiring cutting-edge portable drug detection kits. Appointed as the full-time Director, IPS officer Sandeep Shandilya revealed the agency’s plan to source state-of-the-art equipment from global leaders.
Explaining the efficiency of the equipment, Shandilya emphasized its capability to detect drugs in nanograms concentration from surfaces like table tops, door handles, and personal belongings. He highlighted its potential use in identifying drug abuse at events such as Rave parties.
During a presentation to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Shandilya outlined TSNAB’s focus on educational institutions, the film and IT industry, bars, pubs, rave parties, and resorts. The bureau aims to establish Anti-Drug Committees in schools and colleges, involving faculty, parents, students, NGOs, and law enforcement.

The IPS officer asserted that the TSNAB would concentrate on combating big drug mafias, suppliers, and traffickers. Additionally, the bureau will closely monitor courier companies, transport services, and social media to curb drug-related activities. Shandilya also highlighted collaboration with various departments and organizations to address the sale of scheduled drugs without prescriptions.
Ensuring a comprehensive approach, TSNAB aims to create awareness through workshops, seminars, and counseling sessions while maintaining a stringent vigilance over potential sources of drug-related activities. The government has pledged support, offering incentives and recognition for exceptional work by TSNAB personnel.
