Serial Family Murders Solved: Five Arrested Including Juvenile in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 19: Telangana police announced the resolution of a chilling serial murder case involving six family members, with five suspects, including a juvenile, now in custody. The main culprit, Prashanth, 30, conspired with two hired men to execute the pre-planned murders of his friend, the friend’s wife, two children, and two sisters, all for the sake of seizing a property valued at Rs 25 lakh.

The heinous crimes spanned 15 days across different districts in Telangana, including Medak, Nirmal, Kamareddy, and Nizamabad. The victims were lured one by one by the main accused, who was closely acquainted with the family.

Prashanth’s juvenile brother and mother are among those arrested. The police revealed the intricate details of the case, shedding light on the sinister plot at a press conference.

The motive behind the murders stemmed from a financial dispute between Prashanth and his childhood friend Prasad, 33. Prasad, who had returned from abroad in 2022, owed Prashanth Rs.3.5 lakh, borrowed for overseas employment. Prashanth demanded repayment, pushing Prasad to mortgage his property. Seizing the opportunity, Prashanth coerced Prasad into transferring the property into his name, setting the stage for the tragic events.

The police investigation uncovered a horrific sequence of events:

  1. On November 29, Prashanth, along with accomplices Vamshi and Vishnu, murdered Prasad in a forest near Makloor.
  2. Fearing a missing persons report, Prashanth misled Prasad’s family by claiming Prasad was in hiding due to a previous case against him.
  3. On December 1, the accused brought Prasad’s wife Shanvika and sister Shravani to Nizamabad, where they murdered Shanvika and disposed of her body in the Godavari River.
  4. They then took Shravani to Medak, where they killed her, burned her body, and disposed of it.
  5. Prashanth convinced Prasad’s family, on December 4, that Prasad, his wife, and sister were residing in Nizamabad, and he took the twin children.
  6. The children were murdered, and their bodies were thrown off a bridge.
  7. On December 13, Prashanth killed Prasad’s sister Swapna, burning her body.

The police discovered the crimes through CCTV footage and linked them to other cases in the region. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the murders, providing chilling details of their execution.

The police are now working to locate the bodies of the victims and have seized evidence, including vehicles, phones, cash, and land registration documents.

Kamareddy district Superintendent of Police Sindhu Sharma commended the police personnel for their meticulous efforts in solving the case./please check spellings, grammar and rewrite as a news item with this information
