
Hyderabad, December 20: In a Short Discussion on ‘Telangana State Finances – White Paper,’ Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy declared that the Congress Government would hold accountable those responsible for corruption and misuse of public funds.
Highlighting issues in the Civil Supplies Department, Reddy accused the previous regime of causing substantial losses, revealing debts exceeding Rs 56,000 crore and losses of over Rs 11,000 crore. He emphasized the burden of annual interest, bad debts, and the situation of paddy worth Rs 22,000 crore.

Turning to irrigation projects, Reddy announced an inquiry into the Medigadda barrage collapse, attributing it to criminal negligence. Despite significant spending, he noted negligible new ayacut in various projects, criticizing the poor design and construction.
Addressing BRS MLA Harish Rao, Reddy highlighted cracks in the Annanram and Sundella projects, expressing concern over the lack of accountability. He vowed a thorough inquiry and stern action against those responsible.
Earlier, Reddy refuted claims of bill collection from farmers through proposed meters, accusing BRS of misleading farmers.
