Telangana Chief Minister Enumula Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka engaged in a crucial meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday evening, marking their inaugural interaction with the Prime Minister since assuming office in Telangana. The core of the discussion revolved around vital issues, including the state’s financial status, pending funds across various schemes, and considerations for upcoming developmental projects.
The meeting featured key agenda points such as the allocation of funds for underdeveloped districts, resolution of pending matters stemming from the AP Reorganization Act, and the pursuit of national status for the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka voiced apprehensions regarding the sluggish disbursement of funds from the Centre. They underscored a significant gap between the anticipated Rs. 43 thousand crores in grants for the current year and the meager Rs. 5 thousand crores received thus far.
In the course of the meeting, discussions included the necessity for relaxing FRBM norms, enabling the state government to secure increased loans for various development initiatives. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is anticipated to advocate for the prompt release of central government shares allocated for centrally sponsored schemes in the ongoing fiscal year.
The deliberations extended to encompass the broader spectrum of the state’s requirements, accentuating development projects like the road RRR, with an appeal for additional funds from the central government to fortify these initiatives. The significance of this meeting is underscored post the formation of the new government in Telangana, representing a pivotal moment for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka as they conveyed the state’s needs and concerns to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
