Central Zone Task Force Successfully Apprehends Illegal Supplier of Banned Chinese Manja
Hyderabad, December 26, 2023
In a significant operation conducted today, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, raided Bajaj Pathang Mahal located at Kali Kaman, Gulzar House, within the jurisdiction of Charminar Police Station. The team successfully apprehended Bhagwandas Bajaj, a key figure involved in the illegal procurement, stocking, and sale of banned Chinese Manja – a type of Nylon thread and glass-coated Manja specifically used for flying kites.
Material Seized:
- 50 carton boxes of Manja containing 2100 bobbins
- Total worth: Rs. 15,00,000/-
Background:
The accused, Bhagwandas Bajaj, along with his brother Venugopal Bajaj, originally from Rajasthan, migrated to Hyderabad a few years ago and established the Kites business known as Bajaj Pathang Mahal at Kali Kaman, Gulzar House. The duo not only sold traditional kites and threads but also engaged in the illegal trade of banned “Nylon Manja Dors,” which witness high demand, especially during the Sankranti Festival for kite flying. The bobbins clearly indicated that the Nylon Manja should not be used for kite flying. Despite the warning, the accused knowingly supplied Chinese Dor and other synthetic threads with glass coating, posing a severe threat to animals and endangering human lives.
Legal History:
It is worth noting that Bhagwandas Bajaj has a previous criminal record, having been involved in Cr.No.15/2023 under sections 188, 336 R/w. 34 IPC and Sec. 15 of the Environmental Protection Act at Chikkadapally Police Station.
The successful operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector B. Raju Naik, Central Zone Task Force, along with Sub-Inspectors Ch. Naveen Kumar and team. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Ms. Sreebala Devi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad.
