TSRTC Expands Fleet: Introduces 80 New Buses with Enhanced Services

In a bid to enhance passenger experience, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is set to unveil 80 new buses, featuring modern amenities. The initiative is part of TSRTC’s commitment to delivering top-notch services and adapting to evolving trends in the transport sector.

The corporation has allocated Rs.400 crore for the purchase of 1050 advanced diesel buses in the current financial year. The newly acquired fleet includes 30 express, 30 Rajdhani AC, and 20 Lahari sleeper cum seater (Non-AC) buses, contributing to a total of 80 buses with modern features.

Tomorrow’s inauguration ceremony, scheduled at 10 am at the Ambedkar statue on NTR Marg, Hyderabad, will mark the official commencement of these new buses. Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar will preside over the event, flagging off the buses. The distinguished guests at the ceremony include Transport, Roads and Buildings Secretary Srinivasa Raju, IAS, Transport Commissioner Jyoti Buddha Prakash, IAS, and TSRTC MD VC Sajjan, IPS, among other senior officials.

These additions to the fleet align with TSRTC’s broader plan to purchase a total of 1050 buses, including 400 Express, 512 Palle Luvam, 92 Lahari Sleeper cum Seater, and 56 AC Rajdhani buses. Additionally, the corporation is introducing 540 environmentally friendly electric vehicles in Hyderabad and 500 buses to other parts of Telangana. The phased implementation of these new buses is targeted for completion by March 2024, addressing the increased demand expected with the Mahalakshmi-Women Free Bus Travel Scheme.
