Motihari, Bihar – Decommissioned Aircraft Causes Traffic Chaos
Patna (Bihar):
On December 29th afternoon, a decommissioned aircraft, purchased in an auction by a Mumbai scrap dealer, became lodged under a flyover in Motihari, Bihar. The aircraft was en route to Assam on a large lorry, creating a major traffic snarl on both sides of NH 28.
Attempting to navigate from Gopalganj on NH 28 towards Pipara Kothi in East Champaran district and onwards to Muzaffarpur, the lorry, carrying the aircraft, encountered a challenge. When making a turn under the Pipra Kothi flyover, the upper part of the aircraft collided with the structure, rendering it stuck.

Despite the lorry driver’s efforts to free the aircraft, it remained firmly lodged. Pipara Kothi police station’s SHO, Manoj Kumar Singh, explained the situation: “To facilitate the removal, we decided to deflate all the lorry’s tires, reducing its height. This strategic approach aims to enable the smooth extraction of the aircraft from beneath the flyover.”

The incident led to extensive traffic disruptions, prompting authorities to implement measures to alleviate the situation. As word spread about the unusual occurrence, a crowd gathered to witness the sight and capture selfies of the stranded aircraft under the flyover.
