TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

In anticipation of the New Year festivities on December 31, 2023, the Cyberabad Traffic Police has issued crucial restrictions and guidelines for public safety:

  1. Road Closures:
  • Nehru Outer Ring Road closed for light motor vehicles (except those bound for the Airport) from 10 pm to 5 am.
  • PVNR Express Way closed for vehicles (except those heading to the Airport) from 10 pm to 5 am.
  • Several flyovers closed for all traffic and pedestrians from 11 pm to 5 am.
  1. Transport Operators’ Guidelines:
  • Cabs/taxi/auto rickshaws must have drivers/operators in proper uniform with all necessary documents.
  • Strict adherence to Section 178 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 – refusal to hire may result in a Rs. 500/- penalty.
  • Complaints regarding refusals can be reported via WhatsApp at 9490617346.
  1. Establishment Responsibilities:
  • Bars/pubs/clubs must prevent drunk driving, educating patrons on consequences.
  • Strict legal actions against establishments allowing intoxicated individuals to drive.
  1. General Public Instructions:
  • Special cameras installed to detect violations; strict actions against offenders.
  • Drunk driving checks starting from 8 PM; vehicles lacking documents may be temporarily impounded.
  • Obey traffic laws; failure to do so may lead to legal consequences.
  • Seizure of vehicles for minor driving or lacking a valid license; citizens responsible for further travel arrangements.
  • Prohibition of high-decibel sound/music systems; vehicles violating this rule will be detained.
  • Strict actions against overcrowding, rash driving, over speeding, and other violations.
  1. Consequences of Drunk Driving:
  • Drunk driving cases under Section 185 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, will be filed.
  • Penalties include Rs. 10,000 fine and/or imprisonment up to 6 months for the first offense.
  • Rs. 15,000 fine and/or imprisonment up to 2 years for subsequent offenses.
  • Driving licenses will be seized and sent to RTOs for suspension; subsequent offenses lead to permanent revocation.
  • Accidents caused by drunk driving may result in criminal charges under IPC Section 304 part-II (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
