Hyderabad, January 1: Y.S. Raja Reddy, the son of YSR Telangana Party President Y.S. Sharmila, is set to exchange vows with his girlfriend Atluri Priya on February 17, 2024, with the engagement ceremony scheduled for January 18.
Sharmila joyfully shared the news on ‘X’ on Monday, extending New Year wishes to all and revealing the details of her son’s upcoming engagement and wedding. Sharmila, the daughter of the late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, expressed her delight in announcing the union.
“Wishing everyone a blessed 2024! Delighted to share the news of my son YS Raja Reddy’s engagement to his sweetheart Atluri Priya on January 18th, with their wedding set for February 17th, 2024,” she posted.
Sharmila also disclosed that the family, along with the soon-to-be bride and groom, plans to visit YSR ghat at Idupulapaya to present the first invitation card and seek blessings from her late father, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Raja Reddy and Priya, who met during their master’s studies in the US, have been in a loving relationship for the past four years. Both are currently residing in the US, with Raja Reddy employed in a leading software firm and Priya working as a financial analyst.
The union marks an inter-caste marriage between two prominent families from the Reddy and Kamma communities, which are considered among the most powerful and influential castes in Andhra Pradesh. Priya is the granddaughter of Atluri Vijaya Venkata Prasad, a notable businessman from the Kamma community.
Known for their inclusive approach, the YSR family has a history of inter-caste and even inter-religious weddings. Sharmila’s husband, Anil Kumar, is an evangelist.
