Google to Shut Down Websites Created with Google Business Profiles in March 2024
New Delhi, Jan 11: Google has announced its decision to discontinue websites built with Google Business Profiles, scheduled for closure in March 2024. According to a statement on its support page, the company stated, “In March 2024, websites made with Google Business Profiles will be turned off, redirecting customers to your Business Profile instead.”
Customers will only be redirected to the Business Profile until June 10, 2024. After this date, attempting to access the website will result in a “page not found” error. Websites using Google Business Profiles are basic sites driven by information from the associated Business Profile.
For businesses wishing to maintain an online presence, Google recommends creating a new website using alternative tools and updating the Business Profile with the new website address. Domains ending with business.site and negocio.site will no longer be supported in the website field on Business Profiles.
In another development, Google is set to shut down the “Important” tab in the Files by Google app next month. This feature, introduced last year exclusively for devices in India holding critical documents like government IDs, will be removed on February 15. Anything saved in the Important tab will be permanently deleted at that time, according to a notice discovered during an APK teardown by 9to5Google.
