As the much-anticipated inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir approaches, the story of a banking professional’s nostalgic journey into the roots of his fascination with this iconic structure takes center stage.
The journey commenced 33 years ago, in 1990, when the Ayodhya Ram Mandir became a national conversation, sparking creativity within the heart of an aspiring artist. Despite being employed in the private banking sector, this narrative transcends balance sheets and financial transactions, delving into a passion for painting and model making.
A banking professional by day, this artist’s journey began with an innate love for painting and crafting miniature replicas, a hobby that garnered attention and encouragement from those around him, especially his parents. The turning point arrived in 1990 when the Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue captured the nation’s attention.
Determined to recreate the proposed temple’s architectural magnificence, the artist embarked on a monumental task – crafting a 3D replica model based solely on photographs. Over two months of relentless effort, the 4-foot by 3-foot model with approximately 120 pillars came to life. Exhibited in various showcases, it gained widespread attention and admiration when featured in a procession in December 1990.

Beyond being a mere artistic creation, the replica of Ayodhya Ram Mandir became a symbol of hope and belief, attracting blessings from many. As the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir approaches, the artist’s early vision remains a cherished memory, guarded by his father, Dr. B. R. Revankar, an 83-year-old practicing doctor.
Displayed proudly in the hospital, the model stands as a testament to the enduring impact of art and the profound connection between generations. As the nation witnesses the realization of a dream on January 22nd, this story serves as a humble reminder of the power of art to bridge the past, present, and future. The Ayodhya Ram Mandir emerges not just as a physical structure but as a cultural symbol inspiring artists, believers, and dreamers to contribute in unique ways, fostering a connection that transcends time and space.
