Extension Granted for Paddy Milling and CMR Delivery in Telangana
Hyderabad February 06
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, has approved an extension for the milling period and delivery of Custom Milled Rice (CMR) for the Kharif and Rabi crops of the 2022-23 Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) in Telangana. The extension allows milling and CMR delivery until February 29, 2024. This decision comes in response to the request made by the Government of Telangana, ensuring the completion of milling and delivery of the remaining CMR balance before the commencement of CMR acceptance for the 2023-24 KMS, thereby preventing any overlap.
The CMR delivery will adhere to the cost sheet and FAQ specifications outlined for the 2022-23 KMS. It is imperative for the Telangana Government to ensure the delivery of CMR for both Kharif and Rabi crops of the 2022-23 KMS by the specified deadline, as no further extension will be granted.

To prevent rice recycling, both the State Government and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) are urged to implement monitoring mechanisms at the field level. FCI will monitor CMR delivery on a mill-wise basis, as per the planned schedule provided by State Government Agencies. Additionally, age testing will be conducted during rice delivery, following a protocol devised by FCI.
Furthermore, the State Government is advised to submit a comprehensive report detailing the measures taken to address any shortfall in milling capacity, along with the associated timelines.
This decision has been approved by the Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, and is aimed at ensuring efficient rice procurement and distribution in Telangana.
