As we approach nearly a decade since the bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh, discussions surrounding the state capital have gained momentum. In 2014, during the state division, Hyderabad was designated as the joint capital for a period of ten years, a timeline that is now drawing to a close. Against this backdrop, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) senior leader YV Subba Reddy has put forth intriguing propositions.

Reddy has proposed that, in the interest of the state’s welfare, Hyderabad should continue as the joint capital for an extended period. He argues that maintaining Hyderabad as the joint capital until the full establishment and operational readiness of the new capital at Visakhapatnam would be advantageous.

Highlighting the need for further deliberation on this matter, Reddy disclosed that discussions would be held between the Chief Minister and the leadership of YSRCP post-elections. He criticized the previous Telugu Desam Party government for merely prolonging the temporary solution without making substantial progress in constructing the new capital over the past five years.
