*Burj Khalifa Lights Up to Welcome Indian Prime Minister Modi for World Governments Summit* Dubai, Feb 14: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s keynote address at the 2024 World Governments Summit in Dubai, the city’s iconic Burj Khalifa was illuminated in the colors of the Indian Tricolor, adorned with the words ‘Guest of Honour – Republic of India’.
Modi, currently on a two-day visit to the UAE, his seventh in ten years, aims to strengthen bilateral relations and inaugurate the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. Expressing his anticipation for the summit, Modi shared on social media, “It is an honor to be speaking at the @WorldGovSummit later today.
I shall be elaborating on a wide range of subjects, which will strengthen the conversations around building a better planet.” Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, extended a warm welcome to Modi, sharing images of the Burj Khalifa adorned with the Indian flag colors and the summit’s logo.
“The @WorldGovSummit has evolved into one of the world’s leading platforms for sharing governance best practices, success stories, and initiatives, and envisioning the future of government,” Sheikh Hamdan wrote. Highlighting the strong ties between India and the UAE, he stated, “It is a pleasure to have India as a distinguished guest at this international event, where it will showcase its innovations, initiatives, and projects across diverse sectors.”
The Burj Khalifa’s previous display of the Indian Tricolor was on India’s 77th Independence Day on August 15, 2023, accompanied by the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’. During his visit, Modi expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome in the UAE and addressed the Indian diaspora, praising their contributions in strengthening bilateral relations and acknowledging the UAE Government’s support for nearly 3.5 million Indians residing in the Gulf nation.
