Jaipur, Feb 14: Congress President Sonia Gandhi submitted her nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections from Rajasthan on Wednesday, accompanied by senior party leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.

The filing ceremony, held at the Rajasthan Assembly, saw the presence of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alongside Sonia Gandhi. The formal announcement of Sonia Gandhi’s candidacy was made after her arrival in Jaipur earlier in the day.

Along with her, the party announced the names of three additional leaders: Abhishek Manu Singhvi from Himachal Pradesh, Akhilesh Prasad Singh from Bihar, and Chandrakant Handore from Maharashtra. Sonia Gandhi will occupy the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

During the Congress Legislative Party meeting convened to welcome her and her team in Jaipur, state President Govind Singh Dotasra emphasized that Sonia Gandhi’s entry into the Rajya Sabha would uplift the morale of party workers.

“This is a moment of pride for Rajasthan,” stated Dotasara. Following Dotasra’s remarks, Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully and former CM Ashok Gehlot also addressed the gathering, extending a warm welcome to the Gandhi family and highlighting the heightened spirits among party members.
