Late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s 27 kg Gold and Diamond Jewelry to be Handed Over to Government
The 36th City Civil Court in Bengaluru has made a significant decision regarding the diamond jewelry belonging to the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa. The court has announced that 27 kg of gold and diamond jewelry will be transferred to the State Home Secretary on March 6 and 7 this year.
This decision, coming nearly ten years after Jayalalithaa’s conviction and sentencing to four years in prison in a corruption case, and seven years after her demise, marks a crucial development in the ongoing investigation into her assets.

The special court overseeing the auctioning of Jayalalitha’s movable and immovable properties has outlined the process. Twenty kilograms of jewelry will be sold or auctioned, while seven kilograms will be exempted as it was inherited from her mother.
Confin Homes Limited, which holds Jayalalithaa’s account, has already submitted nearly Rs 60 lakh to the Bengaluru court. The Tamil Nadu government has been summoned to receive the gold and diamond ornaments, as ordered previously.
The court has instructed authorities to bring a photographer, videographer, and six large trunks with necessary security measures to collect the jewelry. The registrar of the city civil court is tasked with coordinating security arrangements with local police for the handover to the state of Tamil Nadu.
