Hyderabad, February21

Bio Asia has been an important platform for the life sciences sector in India. The conference has attracted over 100 scientists and Nobel laureates from more than 100 countries, leading to the introduction of the world to the opportunities in India’s life sciences sector. The conference has been a partner in concluding more than 250 MoUs and bilateral agreements in the past 20 years.

On the sidelines of the Bio Asia conference, Telangana State’s Minister of Information Technology and Industry, K. T. Rama Rao, announced plans to double the value of the state’s life sciences ecosystem to $100 billion by 2028. The sector currently employs 400,000 people, and the government plans to double that figure, creating 800,000 new jobs.

K.T. Rama Rao stated that the Hyderabad Pharma City, which has not received any help from the central government, will play an important role in further strengthening the state’s position in the field of biology. Hyderabad is already a major center for the life sciences sector and manufactures 900 crore vaccines annually. The government plans to increase this number to 1400 crores, with Telangana’s share in all vaccines reaching 50 percent.

The World Health Organization-run mRNA vaccination center will also be set up in Hyderabad soon. The state government has also ambitiously undertaken to establish medical colleges in all 33 districts of the state to further strengthen the field of biology and public health.

The government is making efforts to provide huge opportunities in the field of biology, and the Hyderabad Pharma City is expected to be at a level that can support the country in the future if there is a pandemic like Corona. The state government is confident that it will double the value and jobs of the biology sector in the state by 2028.

The government’s plans to create employment opportunities and double the value of the life sciences ecosystem in Telangana are set to boost the state’s economy and further enhance its position as a global hub for the life sciences sector. Despite the central government’s lack of support, the state government’s efforts are expected to yield positive results for the people of Telangana.
