Agra (UP), Feb 25: Demonstrating a show of solidarity within the opposition, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Agra on Sunday.
Yadav’s participation in the yatra came following the finalization of a seat-sharing agreement between the SP and the Congress last week, underscoring a concerted effort among INDIA members.
Accompanying them in the yatra is Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, further bolstering the united front presented by the trio as they addressed the gathered crowd in Agra.
Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding democracy and upholding the ideals of Dr. BR Ambedkar, Akhilesh Yadav stated, “In the coming days, the biggest challenge is to save democracy and the Constitution, to fulfill the dreams of Dr. BR Ambedkar, that have been marred by the BJP… BJP haatao, desh ko bachao.”
Akhilesh Yadav’s early participation in Rahul Gandhi’s yatra signifies a significant move within Uttar Pradesh’s opposition landscape, as the yatra is slated to continue till March.
Last week, the Congress leadership, in a gesture of outreach, accepted the SP’s offer of 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh, effectively quelling rumors of a rift within the alliance.
