Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy unveiled his ambitious plan, ‘Vision Visakha,’ at the ‘Development Dialogue’ in Visakhapatnam today. The plan aims to transform Visakhapatnam into a global megacity over the next decade with a proposed investment of Rs 1,05,000 crores. This initiative is set to enhance connectivity, infrastructure, industry landscape, and sustainability, positioning Vizag as a premier investment destination and one of the world’s most livable cities.
CM Jagan emphasized the significance of developing Visakhapatnam as the capital, citing the unjust bifurcation of the state that left Andhra Pradesh without Hyderabad’s economic benefits. He stressed the need to focus on Vizag’s growth to compete with leading cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore.
Highlighting the state’s natural advantages, including its extensive coastline, CM Jagan announced plans to establish four new ports and invest in port-led development. Additionally, the government plans to boost the blue economy with new fishing harbors and fish landing centers. Industrial infrastructure parks and electronics manufacturing clusters are also on the agenda to stimulate economic growth.
CM Jagan envisions iconic infrastructure for Vizag, including a secretariat, convention center, stadium, and institute of emerging technologies. Despite opposition, he reaffirmed his commitment to developing Vizag and announced his intention to reside in the city after the elections.
Addressing criticisms of relocating the capital, CM Jagan argued that Vizag’s existing infrastructure makes it a more viable option than Amaravati. He condemned the opposition’s negative propaganda and vested interests in preventing Vizag’s development.
With ‘Vision Visakha,’ CM Jagan aims to propel Visakhapatnam into a leading global hub, leveraging its natural advantages and fostering inclusive growth and development.
