In a significant political development during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the BRS party faced a major setback as four key leaders from its ranks made a dramatic switch to the BJP. Former MLAs Saidireddy and Jalagam Venkatarao, alongside former MPs Godem Nagesh and Sitaram Naik, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The induction ceremony was marked by the presence of BJP state in-charge Tarun Chugh and Laxman, who welcomed the new members by adorning them with the party scarf.

Saidireddy, previously successful in clinching victory as an MLA in the Hujurnagar by-election, experienced defeat in the recent assembly elections. He is widely recognized as a close associate of KTR. Jalagam Venkatarao, a prominent figure in the Khammam district, secured an assembly seat in the 2018 elections under the BRS banner. However, dissatisfaction brewed within him when denied a ticket in the recent assembly polls, leading to his defection to the BJP. Sources within the BJP hint at the possibility of further leaders switching allegiance in the days to come.
MP Laxman, addressing the gathering during the ceremony, declared the BRS party’s relevance in Telangana to be a thing of the past. Expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects, Laxman anticipated securing more parliamentary seats in Telangana than previously attained. He reiterated the commitment of the Modi government to steer the nation forward, vowing to operate with utmost integrity and accountability.
