In a seismic blow to the BRS party Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a prominent Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and daughter of former Chief Minister of Telangana KCR , has been apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a high-profile liquor scam unearthed in Delhi.
The ED’s operation unfolded dramatically as officials descended upon Kavitha’s residence, initiating a meticulous search that spanned almost five hours. During this intensive scrutiny, the authorities seized multiple cell phones belonging to Kavitha, suggesting a comprehensive investigation into her financial activities.

BRS MLC Kavitha Arrested by ED Officials in Delhi Liquor Scam Case
BRS MLC Kavitha was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials at her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The arrest follows searches conducted by eight officers, led by the Joint Director, as part of the Delhi liquor scam case investigation. Tension mounted as Bharasa activists gathered in large numbers at Kavitha’s residence, raising slogans against the central government and the ED.
General Secretary of BRS Legal Cell, Soma Bharat, criticized the lack of clarity regarding the basis of Kavitha’s arrest, especially with the case pending in the Supreme Court. He questioned the timing of the arrest, just before elections, and announced plans for legal action.
Former ministers KTR and Harish Rao, along with several other political leaders, rushed to Kavitha’s residence upon learning of her arrest.
Reacting to the arrest, former minister and BRS Party leader Prashant Reddy condemned the ED’s actions, accusing them of acting unlawfully. He alleged political motives behind the arrest, suggesting a plan to politically undermine KCR and the BRS party. Reddy urged party members not to succumb to intimidation and promised to fight the legal battle both politically and legally with support from the BRS Party and Telangana community.
