Hyderabad, March 20: C. P. Radhakrishnan, the incumbent Governor of Jharkhand, was sworn in as the Governor of Telangana on Wednesday, succeeding Tamilisai Soundararajan who resigned to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe of the Telangana High Court at Raj Bhavan. Notable attendees included Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, members of his Cabinet, and senior officials.
During the ceremony, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari read out the warrant of appointment issued by the President of India, entrusting Radhakrishnan with the responsibilities of both Telangana and the Lieutenant Governorship of Puducherry, in addition to his existing duties. The warrant of appointment was then presented to Radhakrishnan by the Chief Justice.
Radhakrishnan, a two-time Member of Parliament from Coimbatore representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), assumed the office of Governor of Jharkhand last year. Notably, he becomes the third Governor of Telangana since the state’s inception in 2014, following in the footsteps of predecessors ESL Narasimhan and Tamilisai Soundararajan, all hailing from Tamil Nadu.
