Mumbai, March 25: Renowned Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, amidst her preparations for the upcoming political period film ‘Emergency’, has made a significant foray into politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Ranaut is slated to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on a BJP ticket from Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking to the media at an event on Monday, Ranaut expressed her motivation for entering politics, emphasizing her desire to give back to society. She stated, “The people of India have bestowed a lot upon me as an artist, and I feel compelled to reciprocate by serving the country, and politics is the most effective means to do so.”
Asserting her commitment to public service, Ranaut underscored that her venture into politics is not driven by a quest for publicity or financial gain but by a genuine intent to serve the nation. She emphasized, “For me, politics is not a platform for seeking fame or monetary benefits; rather, it’s a medium to serve the people.”
Addressing her association with the BJP, Ranaut lauded the party’s commitment to the welfare of the masses. She affirmed, “The BJP is a party rooted in the people’s aspirations, and I am determined to exceed the blessings I have received from the public by contributing significantly to their well-being.”
Clarifying her role within the BJP, Ranaut emphasized her stance as a dedicated party worker, rather than a Bollywood star seeking political mileage. She affirmed, “Today, I join the BJP not as a Bollywood luminary, but as a committed party worker, ready to serve the party and society wholeheartedly.”
Echoing her sentiments, Kangana’s father, Amardeep Ranaut, reiterated the family’s dedication to societal welfare and affirmed their lack of animosity towards any political faction.
The announcement of Kangana Ranaut’s candidacy from the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh underscores the BJP’s strategic move to bolster its presence in the region, furthering the anticipation surrounding the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
