Bengaluru, March 26: In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained two suspects in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case that rocked Bengaluru. Sources confirmed the detention on Tuesday, shedding light on the ongoing probe into the incident.

Preliminary investigations have unveiled that the two suspects were in direct contact with the suspected bomber involved in the heinous act. NIA operatives apprehended the suspects from an area within the state capital, although an official statement from the NIA is awaited.

While both the NIA and the state’s special wing CCB teams have intensified search operations across various states, the primary perpetrator of the blast has managed to evade capture thus far. Authorities had obtained images and videos of the bomber from CCTV footage immediately after the March 1 incident.

Sources indicate suspicions that the bomber may have hailed from Tamil Nadu and resided in a neighboring state for two months prior to executing the blast. Investigators have also collected hair samples from a hat abandoned by the accused near a religious site in Bengaluru. These samples have been sent for DNA testing, offering a glimmer of hope for a breakthrough in the case.

The Rameshwaram Cafe bomb blast occurred on March 1 along the International Technology Park Limited (ITPL) road in the Brookfield area of Bengaluru. The explosion, carried out using a low-intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED), resulted in injuries to nine individuals.

As investigations continue to unfold, authorities remain vigilant in their pursuit of justice, striving to apprehend all those involved in the reprehensible act.
