Speakers Highlight Relevance of Ancient Indian Wisdom
Hyderabad: Several speakers have emphasised the need for younger generations to understand and apply the philosophical principles of Sanatana Dharma to contemporary life, observing that India’s ancient wisdom offers valuable insights into addressing modern-day challenges.
The views were expressed at the launch of The Logic of And – Sanatana Dharma as a Toolkit for the Contemporary Seeker, authored by R. Srinivasa Murthy, held in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers said Sanatana Dharma should not be viewed merely as a set of rituals, customs or religious practices, but as a comprehensive tradition encompassing philosophical thought, cultural values and principles of life.
They noted that the book seeks to connect India’s ancient philosophical and cultural heritage with contemporary lifestyles. Its central theme, reflected in the title The Logic of And, highlights the distinctive ability of Sanatana Dharma to accommodate diverse ideas, beliefs and philosophical perspectives without necessarily treating them as contradictory.
The book explores a wide range of subjects, including Dharma, personal development, spirituality, scientific temper, Vedanta and the significance of sacred places, presenting complex philosophical concepts in an accessible and engaging style.
The speakers observed that the work goes beyond merely explaining India’s philosophical legacy and seeks to demonstrate how its principles can be meaningfully integrated into everyday life. By connecting traditional knowledge with the questions and challenges faced by modern society, the book offers readers a contemporary perspective on Sanatana Dharma.
They appreciated the author’s effort to explain complex philosophical ideas through personal experiences and cultural insights, making them accessible to a wider readership. They also described Sanatana Dharma as not merely a heritage to be preserved, but a living philosophical framework that can guide individuals in navigating the complexities of modern life.
T. Mahesh Kumar Raju, Ravindra Kumar, Sitaram Singh, R. Srinivasa Murthy, Vikram Kumar, Vishesh Garg and Sunny Kumar, among others, attended the event.
