Kia, South Korea’s second-largest carmaker, made headlines on Thursday with the unveiling of its latest offering, the K4 compact sedan, at the prestigious New York auto show. The move signals Kia’s strategic expansion into the North American markets, with plans to introduce the vehicle later this year.

According to reports from Yonhap news agency, Kia will manufacture the K4 compact sedan at its facility in Mexico, targeting sales in the United States and Canada during the second half of 2024. A spokesperson for the company confirmed this development, emphasizing Kia’s commitment to penetrating key markets in North America.

The K4 model will be offered in two variants, featuring a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a 1.6-liter gasoline turbocharged engine, catering to diverse consumer preferences. However, it was clarified that the K4 will not be imported to Kia’s home market of Korea, focusing solely on the North American launch.

In addition to the K4 compact sedan, Kia will showcase an array of models at the New York auto show, including the highly anticipated EV6 and EV9 all-electric cars, along with the popular Telluride SUV. The motor show, scheduled from March 29 to April 7, promises to be a platform for Kia to spotlight its latest innovations and cutting-edge technologies.

As Kia continues to expand its global footprint and introduce innovative vehicles to new markets, the unveiling of the K4 compact sedan underscores the brand’s commitment to providing exceptional driving experiences and meeting the evolving needs of consumers worldwide.
