As Ayodhya prepares for the first Ram Navami celebrations following the Pran Pratishtha of the grand Ram Temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22 this year, an intriguing incident from decades ago sheds light on his enduring commitment to ceremonial and social causes alike.

Back in 1983, Narendra Modi, then an RSS Swayamsevak, was deeply moved by the plight of the tribal communities in Gujarat’s Dharampur region. Witnessing their harsh living conditions for the first time, he was inspired to express his empathy through poetry. Modi penned a heartfelt poem titled ‘Maruti ki Pran Pratishtha’, encapsulating the daily struggles and deprivation faced by the tribals in their quest for basic necessities.

‘Modi Archive’, a platform known for sharing insights into PM Modi’s journey through various media, recently revealed this poignant chapter of his past. During a journey to attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of a Hanuman temple in south Gujarat, Modi encountered the desolate living conditions of the Dharampur tribals. The stark contrast between their hardship and the upcoming temple ceremony left a lasting impression on him.

The handwritten poem by Narendra Modi, shared by ‘Modi Archive’, serves as a testament to his early advocacy for the marginalized communities’ welfare. It aimed to draw attention to the tribals’ struggles and urged authorities to address their needs.

Notably, Dharampur remains home to several Hanuman temples, cherished by the tribal community. Modi’s involvement in temple-related activities and his visits to the Dharampur forest area alongside his ‘Vanbandhus’ underscore his enduring connection with grassroots initiatives and social causes.

This incident serves as a reminder of Narendra Modi’s longstanding commitment to both ceremonial rituals and social justice, reflecting his multifaceted approach to leadership and community engagement.
