Washington/France, June 13: US President Donald Trump will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other world leaders during next week’s G7 Summit in France, with discussions expected to focus on economic growth, supply chain resilience, Artificial Intelligence (AI), investment partnerships and global security issues.
According to a senior White House official, President Trump will engage with G7 leaders on key matters of shared interest, including economic development, critical supply chains, illegal immigration and emerging technologies such as AI.
The bilateral meeting between Trump and Modi is scheduled for June 17 on the sidelines of the summit. The two leaders will later join a working lunch attended by G7 leaders, outreach partners and leading technology executives.
The meeting will be the first formal bilateral engagement between Trump and Modi since India’s successful Operation Sindoor against Pakistan last year. However, the White House did not disclose specific details regarding the agenda of the Modi-Trump talks.
Packed Diplomatic Schedule
President Trump is expected to arrive in France on Monday. During the summit, he is also scheduled to hold meetings with Emmanuel Macron, the Emir of Qatar, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The White House said Trump intends to promote an economic agenda centered on mutually beneficial investment and development partnerships.
“The President will reframe the conversation around development to focus on investment partnerships that are mutually beneficial for both investor and recipient nations,” a senior administration official said.
Focus on Critical Minerals and Supply Chains
The summit is expected to place significant emphasis on critical minerals and supply chain security amid increasing geopolitical competition and concerns over dependence on limited suppliers.
According to the White House, Trump will work with G7 partners to strengthen critical mineral supply chains, enhance economic security and improve cooperation against illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
Artificial Intelligence High on Agenda
Artificial Intelligence is expected to emerge as one of the central themes of the summit. Trump will participate in discussions involving G7 leaders, invited partner countries and technology industry executives focused on innovation and AI-driven economic growth.
The summit agenda also includes interactions with Volodymyr Zelensky, discussions with Middle Eastern leaders and a special working session with global technology CEOs.
The White House said the gathering would provide an important platform for advancing US economic and strategic priorities while strengthening cooperation with allies and partner nations on key global challenges.
