Homegrown audio and wearable brand boAt announced on Monday that it is currently investigating a potential data breach involving its customer information.
The company’s response came following reports suggesting that the cyber breach may have compromised the data of over 7.5 million customers.
In a statement to IANS, a boAt spokesperson stated, “boAt is aware of recent claims regarding a potential data leak involving customer information.” The company emphasized that it takes these claims seriously and has initiated a thorough investigation.
“Safeguarding customer data is our top priority at boAt,” the spokesperson added.
Last year, the Indian true wearable stereo (TWS) shipments increased by 34 percent year-on-year, with boAt leading the market with 39 percent year-on-year growth. The company retained the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, driven by its affordable offerings and a focus on local manufacturing.
