CM Revanth Reddy Issues Key Directives on Grain Purchase and Water Supply

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued significant directives concerning grain procurement and water supply, emphasizing stringent measures to address arising challenges. Expressing concern over reported issues in grain purchase and water availability across various regions, the Chief Minister has warned of decisive actions against any artificial water scarcity.

Addressing officials, CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the necessity to closely monitor instances of deliberate water diversion, ensuring equitable distribution to all communities. Immediate steps are to be taken in cases where there’s a reduction in grain purchases, with a directive to closely scrutinize millers suspected of diverting grain supplies. Additionally, orders have been issued to enforce the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for grain procurement, aiming to safeguard farmers’ interests.

In a recent review meeting with senior officials, CM Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of fair grain pricing, pledging punitive measures against entities engaging in underpriced purchases. Millers and traders found purchasing grain below MSP risk losing their trade licenses and being blacklisted. District Collectors have been tasked with overseeing market operations to ensure seamless procurement processes, prioritizing farmer welfare.

Acknowledging concerns over high humidity affecting grain quality, the Chief Minister advised farmers to thoroughly dry their produce before market transactions. Measures including the installation of CCTV cameras in markets and provision of tarpaulins aim to enhance grain handling facilities.

Senior IAS officers overseeing joint districts have been instructed to supervise grain procurement efforts alongside their responsibilities for drinking water supply. With elections looming, officials are urged to address complaints promptly, ensuring uninterrupted water supply to all urban and rural areas. Special emphasis is placed on water management during the dry season, with swift action mandated in response to any reported water supply disruptions.
